Wax Removal

Same day wax removal

Earwax is a naturally occurring substance responsible for a number of positive functions, however, over production can lead to problems in the ear, including hearing loss or tinnitus.

No longer viewed as an essential service, many GP practices no longer offer wax removal.

At Gt Yarmouth Hearing Care, we have daily appointments for wax removal and if your wax condition is suitable, we can remove it the same day.

If we can’t remove all your wax in one session, we will book you a review, which will be included in the price of your consultation.

Wax removal appointments are £60, with no charge for follow up wax review.

We use one of three methods to remove wax and we’ll discuss your options at your appointment.

Micro-suction

Micro-suction uses a medical vacuum to delicately remove the wax from the ear canal. This is the most modern method of wax removal and being less invasive than irrigation, is preferred by most patients.

Ear irrigation

Irrigation is the most traditional method of earwax removal. Syringes are no longer used and have been replaced by specialist machines which produce a variable strength jet of water to gently flush the ear canal. There are some medical conditions that will prevent this method being used, such as ear perforations or ear infection.

Instrumentation

Using specialist tools, wax and foreign objects are gently removed from the ear canal. It is often used to lift the edge of occluding wax or pick the wax from the canal.
